This residence is constructed to minimize outside air infiltration, significantly reducing heating and cooling costs. Beneath the siding is a specially designed Air Barrier which prevents outside air from entering the residence, while allowing moisture vapor to escape. Inside the engineered wood sheathing is 6” of tight-fitting fiberglass insulation faced with a Vapor Retarder, preventing excess moisture from condensing in the insulation and degrading the insulation value. The perimeter of windows, doors, and all other penetrations are sealed with polyurethane foam insulation. The townhomes were tested by an independent agency and proven to meet Energy Star standards.
